Clear your browser cache
A simple process that you can perform when and as needed on your computer, can make a significant difference in the efficiency and speed of the internet browser.
Whether you use Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari or any number of other browsers, one thing they have in common in the caching or saving of web page information. This is done in order to help pre-load a page you have visited before, to save time in the refreshed page loading. This action may cause you to actually load an older version of a web page, or to be working “off line” and not realize it.
The other issue is use of storage space on your computer. These cached pages and information can take up lots of room on your hard drive. Security can be compromised as well, with saved images, information, even passwords, and more stored locally.
All the internet browsers have a clearing function you can access to get rid of the saved items. For example in Internet Explorer; go in your tool bar to Tools, Internet Options. Here you will see a check box that will delete your browsing history on exit, and a button to delete the history immediately. When you hit this button, a new window opens where the choices of what exactly to delete are displayed. Here you can check or uncheck whatever you would like to have deleted now or every time you exit the browser. It is a good idea to delete all items, for the highest level of security and protection.
You may to choose to save passwords only, as a convenience, but even these should be deleted or changed frequently.
If you are a more experienced user, try a little test. Search in your computers for all files and folders that contain the word cache. You may be surprised at what is found.
Clear your browser cache and keep on surfing speedily and safely.
